What is Christian Science?

A Bible-based church

Christian Science teaches that our true nature is spiritual, not material, and that an increasing understanding of this can bring healing and regeneration.

The Church of Christ, Scientist, is:

“…designed to commemorate the words and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.”

Mary Baker Eddy

A spiritual pioneer

Mary Baker Eddy (1821–1910) was an American religious leader widely known as the discoverer of Christian Science. A lifelong Bible student, Mrs Eddy wrote Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, first published in 1875. Four years later she founded the Church of Christ, Scientist. Today it has branches around the world. In 1908 she started The Christian Science Monitor, a respected global news source which has won seven Pulitzer Prizes.

Our Pastor

The King James Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures

“The canonical writings, together with the word of our textbook, corroborating and explaining the Bible texts in their spiritual import and application to all ages, past, present and future, constitute a sermon undivorced from truth, uncontaminated and unfettered by human hypotheses, and divinely authorised.” Christian Science Quarterly

About us

A historical sketch of Christian Science Society, Camborne-Redruth

In 1952 sixteen Christian Scientists met in Camborne to start a Christian Science group. A year later they were recognised as a Christian Science Society, a branch of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston Massachusetts.

Initially services were held in the Camborne Community Centre but as the church and Sunday School grew a dedicated building was needed. In 1968 a detached house was purchased and converted.

In 2012 a new auditorium was built, and the existing building was renovated.

How to find us

2 Dolcoath Road, Camborne TR14 8RW

We have a small car park at the front of the church, but it generally fills up well before the services. Parking is very limited on Dolcoath Road, but there is always plenty of space in the Tesco car park across the road.
